Fr. Andrew B. Jones was born on April 19, 1986 in Norfolk, VA to Ray and Karen Jones. He was raised in nearby Chesapeake, VA where he attended South Norfolk Baptist Church with his extended family. For the first two years of High School, he moved with his family to Roanoke, VA where he deepend his faith through the youth group at Cave Spring Baptist Church. The family moved back to Chesapeake in 2002 where they live today. Fr. Jones graduated from Oscar F. Smith High School in 2004 and attended George Mason University in Fairfax, VA from 2004-2008.
In 2005, Fr. Jones entered the Catholic Church after encountering the Early Church, reading about the Eucharist, the Mass, and piecing together early Christian history. After graduating from college, he became a full-time lay Catholic missionary for FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic Universit Students) and served as a missionary at Auburn University from 2008-2011. He spent one more year with FOCUS in Orlando, FL from 2011-2012.
In 2012, Fr. Jones entered the seminary for the Archdiocese of Mobile, and was sent to study for six years at Saint Meinrad Seminary and Shcool of Theology in St. Meinrad, IN. He earned a M.A. in Catholic Philosophical Studies and a Masters of Divinity, graduating in 2018. He was ordained a Priest of Jesus Christ in the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Mobile, AL by Archbishop Thomas J. Rodi on June 2, 2018.
His first Parish assignment was as Parochial Vicar of Little Flower Parish in Mobile, AL from 2018-2020, where he also served as Chaplain at McGill-Toolen Catholic High School. From 2020-2021 he served as Parochial Vicar at St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Auburn, AL as well as chaplain at Auburn University. In June of 2021 he was named Pastor of the City of St. Jude Parish in Montgomery, AL.
