All are welcomed to join us each First Friday of the month for a special night of Healing & Deliverance at the City of St. Jude Parish. After the 5:30pm Daily Mass, there will be Eucharistic Adoration along with prayers for all present and then opportunities for personal prayer as well. The event lasts as long as needed. We are excited at the work that the Spirit has done already in these sessions and look forward to the healings and freedom that will occur in the future. There is no need to be Catholic to attend--only to have faith in the Lord and in His love! | 8 |

FIRST ANNUAL BLACK CATHOLIC HISTORY MONTH LECTURE AT THE CITY OF ST. JUDE PARISH All are invited to attend the 1st Annual Black Catholic History Month Lecture here at the City of St. Jude Parish on Saturday, October 29th from 6:30pm to 7:30pm in the church. We are excited to announce that our presenter this year is Bishop Joseph Perry, Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago, IL. Bishop Perry will be presenting on the life of Venerable Fr. Augustus Tolton. Venerable Fr. Tolton was born into slavery in Missouri shortly before the U.S. Civil War began. He overcame the misery of slavery and racism after the War to become the first Black American ordained to the Roman Catholic Priesthood. Fr. Tolton attended seminary in Rome due to racism in the American seminaries of his time, and after ordination spent his life as a Catholic Priest in Chicago, IL. Bishop Perry is the Postulator for the cause of canonization of Fr. Tolton. This is a free event, and donations towards the cause of canonization of Fr. Tolton will be taken up at the end of the presentation. |
